Another spirit filled Sunday. Patsy, Suzy, and Betty shared stories about being blessed because of listening to God. Kristi shared a new testament story of Jesus’ transfiguration and how the disciples with
Jesus heard God’s voice. I didn’t have time to tell my own story of hearing God, so I said I would put it on the church website.
I had just gone through a miscarriage and the doctor had told me to not get pregnant for 3-4 months. Well 1 month later I discovered I was pregnant. I went to the doctor right away because I was afraid there might be something wrong with this baby too. I was about 5 weeks along and the doctor said it was a little early to hear the baby’s heartbeat, but he would try. He looked a little surprised as the sound of the tiny baby’s heartbeat filled the room. At the sound of the baby’s heart, I got the thought that God was letting me hear the heartbeat because He loved me.
That helped for a while but about two months later I was fearful again. This time I was awakened from a sound sleep by feeling the baby’s movement. This time the distinct words came to me, “This is because I love you.”
At a little over three months, my doubts had overcome me again when the doctor’s office called and said the hospital was looking at purchasing a new ultrasound machine and wanted someone who was 3 months pregnant on whom to demonstrate the machine. In the car on the way to the hospital I heard audible words, “This is because I love you.” It brought tears to my eyes.
In the hospital the room of observers cheered as they saw my little baby kick his feet back and forth. Seeing is believing and I did not doubt my baby’s health again. Today that baby is a young man in the priesthood.
